Tube testers have many pot switches they tend to have layers and some are plastic that is not compatible with deoxit. I don't know what's inside your volume control knob so I was alerting you to a possibility and to use caution. That's all.
Thanks for the tip

The pots may be able to be flushed out with DE-oxit D5 spray. It is safe with most electrical components BUT I do know the old Sencore tube testers have trouble with a thin plastic material spacers in the switch components.
I also acquired my unit used on eBay. After ten years the volume control became touchy and then cut the signal permanently to 50%. My second unit was also from eBay and came with the control already a bit touchy. One observation about the AR sub is that in a port-to-front position it was weaker (per my room configuration). Turning it 90 deg away from front made it perform gangbusters.

Did you have any issues resealing the panel after replacement?

Not sure I get the connection between the volume control and a tube tester re: DE-oxit spray. ??

I have a vintage S112PS subwoofer that needs to have the pots cleaned. Photos showing the electronic plate disassembled do not show original sealing material on removal. Does the electronics plate remount need a bead of sealant or does design preclude the need to seal this plate? Has 8-10 screws against cabinet.
AR112PS subwoofer - Can Volume Control Be Spray Cleaned?

The AR 112 places the speaker firing down at the bottom of the box. Then there are two ports at the bottom of each side fore and aft.
