Yep, welcome!
Enjoy your "new" AR-3a's

What a fun to read topic!
Am I correct to say that the AR-1W is ment to be for mono sound reproduction only?

Are these worth looking at?

I would think a local hardware store in your country should carry boiled linseed oil. Have you checked with any in your area?
Yep, we have it here.
They sell a lot of different "versions/types" but I have found a firm that has been producing "original" Boiled Linseed.
So Vintage-AR uses Linseed?

The finish restore kit form Vintage-AR, does that contain Boiled Linseed?
I bought a set from him but the shipping cost from the US is a little to much to order such a small amount each time.

Most were finished with boiled linseed oil. The very glossy ones had a lacquer sprayed on.
The former should be re-oiled once and a while. The latter just dusted.
Thanks!

What where the AR3a cabinets original finished with?
With that I mean the varnish.

What a shame to see the faceplate in such a bad condition
Did those Advent 400's ever made it over to Europe?
-
Great design!
Can you use it without the speaker and as a (Stereo) Tuner attached to an amp.?

I can't believe that this topic dates back to 2007 and so few replies ever since then?
Well, here I am, ready to use the "Restoring the AR-3a" document to get my just accuired AR3a's back in shape.
First thing tomorrow I will print on paper and read to so what I need in preparation.
Stopped for toilet paper, found a pair of AR3's!
