DavidDru
Are those Rosewood? Darker than mine and a more interesting grain pattern. Have usual sun bleached bottoms. How the grilles?
audiofreak
Grills are excelent, that is the sun fade. Might be the mahogany, not positive. BUT either rosewood or mahogany.
audiofreak
Is there anything that can be done about the fade?
owlsplace
Here is a rosewood L1590:
audiofreak
Those are "lighter" than mine and the "grain" in mine is more prominent I'm thinking these must be the Mahogany's I have seen referee to in the user manual.BTW very nice! They are pretty svelte looking, aren't they ... There are some nice looking Cambridge Soundworks towers available locally that run the grilles full-length which does away with the fade line issue. audiofreak
GD70 I agree towers are not my favorite look but these are exceptions. The wood is beautiful and as far as towers go these aren't skinny, or modern looking at all but big monsters with a lot of attitude!
audiofreak
Just curious how many play with grills off? I like mine better with the grills off at least for critical listening.
DavidDru
Always off. (After a little foreplay of course)
audiofreak
It made quite a difference. But what really surprised me was the improvement in imaging. The cabinets all but disappeared. Tells me I had the cabinets placed correctly for my room but didn't expect that much difference. My L810's had to have the grills on for best sound. DavidDru
So, now that these have been inplay or a little while, what do you think? And what is the finish on those? I have a replacement grille peg solution if you need any BTW.
audiofreak
The finish is Mohogany. As far as the sound goes, these will probably be with me till I die. Can't think of a speaker that could replace them for less that several grand used! Grilles are in very good shape. They really don't need anything done to them. DavidDru
So you thinking no need to send the mids and tweets to Richard So at this point?
audiofreak
These are series 2 with the "heat resistant " coils so less issues with the fluid going away than the series 1's. But..... it's a good deal he offers for 250.00 or so. But they seem to be just fine so far.
