mike nelson
Hi to the group. I bought a pair of AR9's in overall poor condition. Does anyone know if it's possible to safely remove the tweeter's faceplate for repainting by removing the 4 screws indicated in the picture? Or would that do damage? Thanks in advance for any help. tysontom
If you try to remove the top plate, the tweeter dome and voice coil may possibly detach from the top the magnet gap. The dome and voice coil are attached by glue to the magnet top plate on earlier versions, but with this new-style (recessed-dome) tweeter and its additional plastic top plate, the dome might separate if the plate is removed. Should this happen, there is no assurance that you can get it back in the gap properly, so you should probably not attempt to remove it. Others may have tried it with success, but the best thing to do to improve the appearance of this tweeter is to remove the four Velcro attachment pads, clean the top and then use a Dremel wire-brush tool to clean the rust from the four mounting screws. --Tom Tyson
mike nelson
Thanks for this information and refinishing tips. The tweeters both work, and I'd hate to damage them. Thanks again.
baco99
What's the model # on the tweeter, if you don't mind.

The cleanup came out pretty good. Thanks for the assistance.
owlsplace
Looks good. You can remove the screws one at a time and refinish them. I just use a black paint touch up pen. Roger
