JeffS
It's peach season here in upstate NY and as I was driving along this afternoon I spotted a roadside stand at a peach farm that happened to be next to a church having a rummage sale. I went into the church where I came upon a box of records from the 'fifties'. A Brubeck record caught my eye so I went through the box and found 'Jazz For Hi-Fi Lovers' (a promo disc from WTRL-AM 1490 in Bradenton, Florida). I thought my fellow CSP members would enjoy this. ar_pro
That's so cool, Jeff - thanks for posting it! I knew the AR-1, the Mac preamp & power amplifier, and I had a hunch on the Sherwood tuner, but the turntable and arm threw me. Here's a link to the Discogs page, where they have a description & sound sample from the record: https://www.discogs.com/Various-Jazz-For-Hi-Fi-Lovers/release/1787059
der
Thanks for posting this. Very cool. My father and an uncle got into hifi in the early 50's, building Heathkit amps and preamps. They also constructed their own speakers from unknown (to me) sources. I remember they both used Garrard turntables. The cartridges they used were RCA if I remember correctly. My father had a lot of mono jazz recordings. Sadly, he's been gone 10 years now and his gear and records gone even longer than that.
