Guest dogmeninreno
I nam looking for a pair of woofers for a set of AR3a's. Are these real replacements? If so, I may try for them...Thanks, Dalehttp://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...&category=14993
Guest audioslave
I *believe* these are the same 12" that AB tech sells. I inquired about them once and I recall them saying that their replacements had black baskets. Audioclassics sells an AR replacement woofer with the same part number as the one pictured on ebay (12100032) for $119. Jeff
tysontom
Dale,The AR woofers shown in the eBay listing are the Tonegen replacement woofers, and they are perfectly fine for the AR-3a. They are basically identical to the original AR 12W woofer (200003), but the suspension is stiffer for greater power-handling capability. There might be some very slight differences in low-frequency output compared to the original, but there should not be much because the cone mass, magnet assembly and voice coil are all virtually identical to the original. I do, however, think the free-air resonance (fs) is slightly higher than the original, and I am sending one of these woofers out to Ken to test. He can tell us any differences.--Tom Tyson
