owlsplace
So I was flipping through some of the High Fidelity back issues that Kimmo referenced in another post and this one stood out -- an AR ad in the May 1967 issue. By comparison you could have bought a decent house back then for $6,000. The image didn't transfer well is a little difficult to read so basically the enthusiast says he spent close to three grand on equipment and wasn't satisfied. Then he decided to go with a Shure-Dyna-AR system for $875. Results: sound=perfect. I love these little flashbacks. This was at a time when I was delivering newspapers at 5am for $5/week ... if I had saved all that I could have bought his system in a little over three years
