The AR-3a Is Now Hipster Cool

Another shallow person buying something because it's a status symbol, and not knowing enough about it to not put it on the floor in a hallway...probably someone who moved up here from LA after watching Portlandia...

Looks like a prop, not being used, though I haven't seen the show.

There's a guy in my town that supplies props for TV, Theater, Commercials, has everything from every era you could think of. There were a dozed Vespa scooters lined up in one area!

He showed me all the audio gear he has, multiple receivers, TT's, Tape decks, speakers etc... He buys stuff from CL, tag sales etc, has no idea what works and what doesn't.

At least the 3a in the pic is in nice physical condition.

Don't know the show, but if that's a 'set,' then the speaker is a never-played prop, and it's positioned for visual effect, not for sound.

A very few will recognize it and think it's cool. But unless they start making a fuss over it in their material, no effect on the ebay market at all.

BTW, if that is someone's actual dwelling, the positioning is fine if you just use music for 'ambiance' around the place. The AR3-a is a bit wasted in such a role of course....

Portlandia is a humorous satire on hipster culture; specifically, as realized in Portland, Oregon.

If there's a more self-aware show on TV, I couldn't name it - in other words, nothing is there by happenstance.

Boomers have been around long enough that they may now witness items of their youth take on new life as ironic bric-a-brac for the über-hip! ^_^
