Boston HD5 repair question

Recommended Posts

I purchased a pair of HD5's a couple of months ago. I played them at low volume when I first got them to see if I liked them, which I do. The foam surrounds are OK except that the foam has separated cleanly from the cone in spots. I have surround glue that I've used on other projects with paper cones (surrounds for the Allison:Four purchased from MSound). Would this glue be OK to use on the poly cone of the Boston woofer?

I wouldn't bother. Even if it worked temporarily, a matter of time before the whole surround crumbled (surprised it hasn't already). IMO, it's easier to replace the surround than risk damaging the cone. If you damage the cone, might as well throw out the woofer (rendering the system useless). I voiced the HD5 (and many other BA products). The HD 5's performance is quite amazing despite it's small zize as long as you drive it at reasonable levels. Many use them as surrround speakers for home theater.
