hermanbubbert
Just replaced the rotted surrounds on a 1980s pair of larger Advents using John McPeak's MSound reFoam kit. His materials, instructions, and service are great, and I got an excellent result. If you're trying to figure out how to fix your speakers, as I was a few weeks ago, you could do no better than to order from John. In fact, I've ordered another kit to repair some 1960s vintage AR3s next.Note: I have no connection other than being a very satisfied customer. 4+ recommended! Mystery
Are the surrounds light or thick/heavy?When I ordered NLA surrounds (from ebay), they were very thin and flexible but replacement surrounds for Prodigy Tower were very stiff and thicker than original. Both sound good after refoam but I think correct foams for Advent's are thin/light and flexible ones. They look just like the original surrounds, apart from the rotted holes in the originals. ;-)
