AR48
Hi first post on here i have a pair of AR48s speakers and Wharfedale xp2 Glendale,s in use with my main system but have just been given a pair of AR 18bx,s with black cabinets and marked as made in england i have not seen these units before in this colour and wondered if someone could give me a bit of info on them.Serial no of both units is 21162. They are too good to throw but too new to use in my listning room so i will be putting them to use with a beomaster 1900 reciever in the spare bedroom. deek
Made in '85 and '86, the 18BX sold for around $200 a pair. I have some experience with them, but not much. If I recall correctly, the woofer is a poly cone, the same used in the "Rock Partner" speakers.A decent 8" system though the "18" series (8" woofer and 1 tweeter, no midrange) had been rebooted about a dozen times. The original AR-18 is usually preferred to any successors due to it's 1.25" pressure type upper end.-Deek
