ninohernes
I have a pair of AR-2 speakers. They are glossy finished. What can I use to keep them shiny? will pledge work, or should I use wax? Joe
ar_pro
The gloss-finish is lacquer, and (if undamaged) has sealed the stained veneer. Simply cleaning it (mild soap & water) should do the job!
tysontom
Furniture wax (e.g., Johnson & Johnson) works well, but is hard to shine without streaks. It leaves great protection, though, and fills any pores or voids that might otherwise be exposed. It will not protect against water glasses, etc., though. Pledge is probably the best quick-polish treatment for clear-lacquered Walnut and Mahogany finishes, as it always seems to do a great job (Pledge is also the cleaner of choice for the AR-XA turntable clear-plastic cover, incidentally). I've owned a pair of Mahogany AR-3's and a pair of Mahogany KLH-6's for many years, and I have used Pledge on them since I first got them, and they have responded well to that.--Tom Tyson
