Hello all,

I'm a new owner of a pair of the newer version of the AR9s. Unfortunately, I noticed quite fast that something about the left speaker was off. Turns out there is no sound coming from the tweeter. I was wondering how to perform a quick diagnostic to see if it just needs a repair or a replacement. Also, if it needs a to be replaced is the link below the best place to look?

Thanks in advance for your help.

I'm afraid I can't be of any help, but I didn't want you to feel ignored.

This forum is really devoted to the "classic" AR speakers which are at least 25 years old and not many of us have any experience at all with models made after the early 1980s.

It's not an unwillingness to help. It's an inability.

The best test is to measure the DC resistance across the tweeter's terminals with at least one of the wires removed. If you get no reading, that means the tweeter's voice coil is open and explains why you hear no sound.

Your only option then is to replace and the problem is no modern tweeter will match your other tweeter exactly. So you should purchase a pair of tweeters.

Read the thread about the Hi Vi tweeters to get opinions and options.

Regards,

Jerry
