Guest Jason Miller
I am wondering were i can find info on them? Model HK 4 stratophonic loudspeaker system rated at 4 ohm they have a brilliance control on the back of each speaker and they say Harman Kardon Plainview NY. the surrounds are in good shape and when i remove the speaker grills they kind of remind me of the OLD AR's from the 60's and 70's

Guest Jason Miller
I emailed Harman Kardon. They are very nice. I am surprized they would look up this info on a very old set of speakers.Hello Jason, Thank you for the inquiry. The HK 4's could handle up to around 50w RMS. If your amplifier produces more power than that, you would likely be OK to use them with it. This is because the amplifier does not generate a set amount of output and the short peaks that would be generated by drum hits and short, loud transients will not present a problem for the speaker. I hope this is helpful.Best Regards,Sean HanneyHarman Technical SupportHCGCustomerSupport4@harman.comP.S. IF REPLYING, PLEASE INCLUDE ALL PREVIOUS CORRESPONDENCE!!! jimjam
Well you can't beat the price. They may look like vintage AR's but believe me their not in the same class. I buy and sell audio equipment to suppliment my retirement an d have learned quite a lot over the years. Since I have learned to deal with higher end equipment I would have passed up Harmon Kardon speakers. Like I said earlier you couldn't beat the price. I happened upon a great yard sale deal a few times. I bought a mint pair of Allison Acoustics CD-9's for $50. A mint pair of Klipsch KG4's for $30. and recently a pair of Infinity Reference Studio Monitors with original stands for $100.00. Keep searching ! Many times you can find people selling audio equipment that they have no knowledge of its value.
