Guest tdinning
I purchased a pair of AR2ax's at a thrift store. They work fine, except for iffy mid and treble controls (noisy and spotty). One of the woofers looks original. The other is a replacement alnico magnet woofer with a black date stamp of 2-10-1971.Is this an AR woofer, or generic replacement? The ser. # of the speaker enclosure in question is 99974.See photos at:URL: http://img.auctiva.com/imgdata/7/0/2/2/3/5...104998962_o.jpgURL: http://img.auctiva.com/imgdata/7/0/2/2/3/5...104998940_o.jpgThanks! The one with the foam surround appears to be the woofer that was used in a slightly later version of that model (which also utilized a different tweeter). It is likely that the response of the two woofers is slightly different, but the speakers should be quite acceptable as they are. If you end up loving them, try to find another cloth surround specimen.Roy
