First post, new to forum.

Need Help with info with pop's Speaker set.

Bought in Sydney Aust. in the late '60's or 70-71.

Cabinet size looks similar to A-25 but has 2 10" drivers and a dome tweeter.

Cab has no port. Looks to be nice veneer over MDF w/ black grills of shinny cloth.

All drivers are Seas, Cab has what looks to be marker handwritten SEAS 225.

Input is small terminal block.

Sorry no pic's yet but hope to soon.

Have pulled the Dome and one 10" via back panel (baffle board and grill screwed to cab from inside).

All drivers are 8 ohm. Crossover (hi pass?) is DUCON 6.5mF 600vacw paper in oil capacitor only.

10" drivers check out with no rubbing.

Would these be some custom cab?

Have knowledge of vintage gear and covet vintage JBL, Altec etc. Speaker/acoustics/diy bug bit many years ago.

Must make decision soon on whether to incorporate into existing system or sell to similar kin.

Sorry for the long message.

Any help would be most appreciated.

Thx in advance.

Hi there;

We really need a few photos.

Rear terminal area, front overall view, paper label of tweeter and woofer also will help.

Photo of inside, crossover and baffle board.

With good photos, help will be here.

Hi again;

Any chance of a photo of the woofers side magnet label's, please?

Hi Vern -

This is the label on one of the 10" drivers.

Hi Vern -

Hi again;

Well thank you for all of the photos.

From what I can see you have a homemade or dealer made cabinet speaker system, most likely homemade.

The drivers are incorrect for this particular cabinet, at least, as is with these woofers.

The capacitor is Austrailan manufactured, possibly in 1965.

The terminal strip is something a do-it-yourselfer would use.

You have an 8 ohm tweeter and 2 - 8 ohm woofers, these are the correct singular drivers, as used in , the A-25's or A-35's only.

The A-50 has 2 - 16 ohm woofers.

These are not compatible as a set shown in these photos, sorry.

This speaker will give you 8 ohm mid-highs and depending if wired parallel or series, the woofers will be either 4 ohm or 16 ohm impedance.

The cabinet is sealed, it should not be, these are not acoustic suspension woofers.

After all of this if you are happy with them, enjoy.

If you are not happy with the speakers, parting them out will obtain the most money for you.

Can you convert these into a Dynaco speaker system?

Using one tweeter and one woofer you can create either a A-25 or A-35 speaker system.

You would need to build good cabinets following closely the original dimensions and insulation capacity for the very best results.

Material and labour will be high but it would be a project of love.
