What LWE speakers do I have?

I have a pair of L.E. Erath loudspeakers and a McIntosh MA 5100 Preamp/Amp that has the matching "clip kit" installed. I have the cables; everything works.

I don't know what model the speakers are, though. Can anyone help me?

Here's the info written on the back of the speakers:

L. W. Erath Co. Houston, Texas

Serial no. LWE 003888

(The other serial no. is 003889)

There are three knobs, labelled "Room Gain", "MF", and "HF".

The dimensions of the speakers are 25" high by 17" wide by 12" deep.

I thought that, given the absence of a model number, these might be LWE-1's. But I read online that the LWE-1's are 27" high. So I'm puzzled!

I'm getting married and moving in with my wife, who is in love with her Klipsch horns. So, somewhat reluctantly, I'm planning to sell this preamp/amp and speaker combination. Does anyone have any idea what the combination is likely to be worth? Where should I try to sell it?

(I posted this a while back to rec.audio.tech, but received no reply.)

I'd appreciate any info or leads!

I have a pair of speakers like you describe. S/N 1276 - bought in '70 -'71.

I don't know if there is a difference, but as I recall, mine are either as either LWE-1 or LWE-1A.

I have a set of confirmed LWE-1A speakers.

A company called Precision Acoustics in Calgary, Alberta, Canada bought a license from Acoustron to produce the LWE line in Canada. My father bought these new in 1970 in Edmonton, Alberta (North of Calgary).

The tag on the back identifies my speaker model # as LWE-1A's. The serial numbers are 070170 and 078170. I'm not sure if the S/N values are different from the LWE models produced in the US.

Hope this helps.

By the way, does anyone have or know someone who may have "clip-kit" specs for a Sansui 5000? I have finally found this receiver, but the only "clip-kit" specs (and cables) I have are for my father's Sansui 2000A. Unfortunately, he sold it a long time ago.

Between both of us we have a set of LWE1A's, LWE-VI's and LWE-VII's, so I would love to be able to hear these units connected to the 5000 with the proper "clip-kit" values.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!
