Guest Robert M
Simplyspeakers is telling me they have these, note that generic 8" foam does not work. I would like to refoam my T/E 100s, but don't want to pay $30 for the privelege. Has anyone been able to find inexpensive foam for these? THANKS! Guest robobxman
I recently refoamed my 8" drivers and 12" passive radiators and used msound (www.msound.biz). The total cost for 4 surrounds was about $30 w/ shipping, and the kit comes w/everything you would need. Just send an email to msound w/ precise measurements (see their website), and they will take care of you. I doubt you will hear anything about their surrounds being "special" and then have to pay extra. good luck.

THANKS!Hi there;Unless your EPI surrounds are an odd size such as the AR 12" which measures 11", which causes a surcharge sometimes.Your surround kit should run around $20.00 US for a pair, including instruction sheet, 2 surrounds, enough glue for the job plus shipping and taxes. There has been more than one comment elsewhere on this site about different quality surrounds.Good luck with your choices and please let us know of your decision and outcome. Guest Robert M
What I am looking for are a pair for $10 or so. You can refoam Original Advent (10" in a 12" basket), perfectly with the foams from rssound.com for $10/pair. You can refoam AR 8" from the '80s/'90s (such as AR-18 and Rock Partner) for $4/pair foam from Matelectronics.com. I am looking for something similiar for the 8" EPIs. The dimensions are:Cone Diameter: 6.25"Diameter at Roll: 7.5"The inner edge is ANGLEDI emailed msound to see if they can come through. I have emailed rssound twice to see if they have some laying around (their website does not indicate they have that size), but they are not very responsive. Another good source for cheap foam is mainelectronics and they put sizes on their website. I just think it is ridiculous to pay $20-$30 for foam, they are getting this stuff for under $1 apiece, I am sure. And as far as quality goes, they are all the same. I have foam from a number of different suppliers and they are uncannily identical. The key is the FIT.I will post if I find a deal on these. Guest nebfan
I just wondering why a generic foam surround wouldn't work. I re-foamed my Genesis I's with an $8.00 set, and it worked great. I'm listening to them as I write this....Furthermore I own EPI T/E 100's and 100V's that have both been re-foamed (prior to purchase) and I can't see any difference in the surround material on them as opposed to that I used on the Genesis I's.... Just curious
Guest Robert M
The T/E 100 woofer has a clear plastic front, so you can't glue them to the front. Sometimes if the size is a little off and it doesn't fit exactly from the rear, a front glue will work. I did this on some Pioneer HPM-40s, used generic 10" from matelectronics which were slightly (1/16" on the inner roll diameter) too small and wouldn't work from the rear, but installed fine to the front. Because of the plastic lining on the front of the 8" woofer of this speaker, I can't go this route, an EXACT fit mounted to the rear has to be used. I posted the dimensions for this particular woofer and it is different than two seperate generic 8" surrounds, the mainelectronics and matelectronics supplied foams. Simplyspeakers claims they have an exact fit, but I quite honestly am not up to spending $30 on a speaker when I own 20 others that are better.
