bigyank
Picked up a pair of these as my next project speakers. All 4 woofers need new surrounds once I check voice coil with an ohm meter. The woofers should be 4 ohm correct?Anyone have any experiences with these speakers they can share?yank

A pair in top condition represents one of finest pair of speakers available ANYWHERE...at any price. Check out this link: http://lists.topica.com/login.htmlI and many other members have been posting there for the last 7 years. If you subscribe to the list (free) you can browse all the posts from the beginning. Just about everything I can imagine has been covered there and I am sure you will find much of it interesting reading. There is also the current allison-loudspeakers group at yahoo groups. That's where all the action is now.(What little there is with the company gone). This one has been going for around 2 years now I believe. There is great Allison stuff in those archives too, including a photo section with some cool shots. The woofers are 4ohm.Regards,Bill

The topica.com does not seem to have much action while the Yahoo site does. Either way I will look through both thanks. Just ordered 4 surrounds for the woofers so I will try to get these fixed ASAP. bigyank
So I got all four surrounds installed today. TOo bad I have to travel for work or I would listen to them tomorrow. Very straight-forward install. Rd wire to + on one woofer, white wire to - and then to + on the ofther woofer and finally black to - on the other woofer. I do have a question though. What are the black stickers near the midranges covering? As I vacuumed the fronts part of one disintegrated. Also, I tested the mids and tweeters using a volt meter and all are good to go. I have 2 slightly pushed in mids which I have been told are okay and I did contact MillerSound (are local enough for me to entertain the idea of hand delivering them) to get a quote on rebuilds if these sound as nice as everyone says they can (if you have the wall space, etc).Yank
