Guest molecules
The tweeter output dropped all of a sudden in my KLH 38's. Inside there looks like no problems. A coil and a 4uF capacitor is all thats in there. Could the capacitor be the problem ? There is output from the tweeter, but it is much lower than the other one.I think these are great speakers, and are my favorite vintage speakers, even with large Advents, AR4ax, EPI 100's, and JBL L-40's so I want to get them back in the system.Any direction you can give me ?Thanks,Dave

Guest molecules
Replaced the cap with non-polarized one, still does not sound right. I took the screen and fiberglass off to reveal the 3" standard looking paper cone tweeter. Does anybody know what other KLH speakers use this tweeter or can suggest a possible replacement ?Dave
KLHSvcMgr
Hi Dave...Replace the cap. It is probably a Callins (One end is red), which were a real pain. The field replacement, Part#: 1350A was a 100v NP device.Mark>The tweeter output dropped all of a sudden in my KLH 38's.>Inside there looks like no problems. They will no longer be stockbut........I would use the 40 watt Pioneer 3" tweeters at MCM. Theyare about 6 bucks each and sound very good with a single 4.7 uf Benniccap crossover. If you use a NPE I think the 50 v sounds better than the 100 v. Good luck!
Guest molecules
I bought a new pair off ebay fo $11.00 ! I used the Parts express 4 uF 100v non polar for 80 cents each, part no 027-330. Comparing a speaker with the old cap and same tweeter , the one with the new cap sounds clearer and less colored, more neutral. So I matched the two tweeters and replaced the other cap. >The old CTS tweeters are tough to find. They will no longer be stockbut........I would use the 40 watt Pioneer 3" tweeters at MCM.
