Guest
Thanks I just picked up a pair of these in great condition FREE!Grill cloth needs replacement, but otherwise fine shape and working. I'm thinking of staining them black, to let the original walnut veneer woodgrain still show but with an updated look, and leaving the innards all stock AR. The brass AR-8 logos are still covered in plastic!!! Also, I plan to use these with my new Dynaco ST70 amp, so what u guyz think? I have a pretty basic Proton preamp, and am unsure about if I should upgrade (downgrade? oldgrade?) to a tube preamp, or upgrade to a Carver C1 later. Any preamp recommendations would be appreciated too.
Guest
Is there enough wattage from the ST70 to do the AR's justice? The st70 was rated at a liberal 35 watts per channel. What is the effeciency of the AR's? As far as preamps- Vanalstine!http://www.avahifi.com/ Look at the pas tube pre.
Guest
I would use the Dynaco tube pre amps if I had that system and if I couldn't fint one I would look for a Dynaco PAT-5 bi-fet or Hafler 101. They are ment for each other .
