Guest radkrisdoc
I have an AR-90 10" woofer that has a new surround but still has the old dustcap, meaning that the voice coil centering is iffy. I do not know if there is any voice coil rub as yet. Does anyone here have experience with this kinda situation? Did you recone the woofer again, centering the voice coil? If so, did that go well?I am aware that Millersound does fantastic work on these woofers, but has anyone had experience with a second repair? Excessive glue around the inner dia. of the surround? The DC also looks depressed in a number of areas as well. You can check for rubbing by putting your ear close to the cone in a very quite area of the house and gently pushing down on the cone with evenly centered pressure. Do the same again, except pull up on the cone. Two people doing this is best. One who hears well and the other pushing and pulling on the cone. About 1/2 inch of stroke in each direction is plenty to tell if there are any rubbing noises.Of course, the best test is playing music thru it. You will tell immediately if there is a problem.I have done second repairs. It's all about the musicCarlCarl's Custom Loudspeakers
