dynaco_dan
Hi there; Here is a sample of an AR Turntable, with 2 motors and with the earliest Delrin bearings, I believe. It is on the auction block now.I have read commentaries from owners and collectors on other websites. If you are contemplating bidding, read on.Particular points of interest. The Delrin bearings were a production and financial headache for AR.It was used as a bearing for the arm as well.Apparently the hole would shrink in diameter, just enough to cause binding.A third party had an idea to re-temper them and ream them out again, this was apparently, not successful, in the long term.I have no interest in this auction. genek
Too late to be of use for this auction, but it's not. This is one of the later models with the bronze bearing sleeve/cup pressed into the delrin flange. In the early "delrin bearing" models that made up the first manufacturing run of the pre-XA series "T" two-motor turntable, the platter and tonearm spindles rode in bearing cups consisting of unsleeved holes bored into the delrin. Since the all-delrin bearings seized up within the first month of use, the problem became obvious very early, so one of these unsleeved turntables that made it into customers' hands and didn't ever come back to AR for service are probably the rarest of the rare.>Here is a sample of an AR Turntable, with 2 motors and with>the earliest Delrin bearings, I believe.
