AR9 or AR9ls which is better in bass for a quad set up

which has the least amount of bass cancelation in a four speaker setup?

the AR9 haveing it woofers to the side and the 9ls down firing ten and front firing 12. and is there a way to avoid this or improve it? I have bin told a long time back not to have the speakers in a perfect square.
