My replacement AR3a (Heathkit) woofer is excess to my needs and is available now on the "auction place", Item number: 290010479199

Needs new foam surround, but otherwise OK. Several companies sell foam surround replacement kits just for this purpose.

Hi there Frank;

I just went to see that auction number, Frank.

It finished July 28th.

You were the lucky winner of that auction number.

It was a 12" AR woofer at $15.50.

It was unused, but, it was in need of a new foam surround, judging by the description and photos.

I guess I did win it. My hat business has been doing very well and I guess I simply lost track of the raw materials coming in at such a pace.

But seriously folks I may need some medication. Anyway the woofer does need new foam, who's doesn't? Although this woofer has the square magnet assembly, I still wonder if it'll sound the same? I gave it the ol'battery test and the cone moves, albeit with some lack of smoothness as compared to my other units when moved by all of my fingers from all sides. I believe since it was never used and originally bought and saved as a spare there may be some rust and or stickiness to the pole piece.

I am now the proud-pappa of 5 spare 12inch AR-3a woofers in case I need one or more in the future I would simply re-foam one and drop it in place. I also have 4 spare mids and about the same number of tweeters. A man can't be too sure with these old units so I'm prepared for almost any eventuality, should one arise. Although I always look for more, I'm thinking I'm getting too carried away with this hobby and I must do more listening to settle my AR addiction.I also presume this out of control raw driver buying is because I fell in complete love with AR at an early age and may have been 'ruined' for life. I am seeking help though with group assistance thru medicare.
