Guest Tarrazu Tico
Hello all, I bought a pair of these beautiful speakers from the original owner about two months ago. He had bought them seperately which is quite obvious in the build quality. The earlier speaker has always sounded incredible (serial 38326).Well I went for a trip and left my sister with the place and my system set up in the living room. Naturally she was really enjoying the tunes when the bass driver just stopped working. I don't know really anything technical about speakers and I wasn't there to confirm or deny anything. I did swap the drivers and the new one still works in the old box so I know that the wiring and such in the box is fine. When I look at the speaker from behind I see the wires are still connected to the paper face. What else typically goes wrong in these?? Any help would be fantastic!! Thanks,
Carlspeak
You may have a blown voic coil. You didn't say what speakers you have other than give a serial number which isn't much help in this case. What AR model do you have?Have you tried switchng the speakers to see if the one not working still doesnt work? If it does work, then your upstream audio system has issues.remember, it's all about the music.Carl's Custom Loudspeakers

frankmarsi
Dear 'New-Bee', Carl is correct. Check your wiring twice or more times and then remove the speaker if nothing happens. Get a AA battery, attach a wire to both terminals of the battery and then touch the wires to each like terminal of the speaker for a second or two. If the cone does not move up or down, it's a blown voice coil. I'd check for any broken wires on the woofer and everywhere first of course, but then... It's now time for a new or used woofer replacement. My ex blew two of my AR-LST woofer voice coils after playing one of my favorite tunes by ZZ-Top, 'LeGrange', that's all it took was a heavy bass line at loud levels, and good-bye!I should have known better, she didn't care and had no idea about things as I did, she'd then break my heart a third time when she took the food blender and left for ever.Frank Marsi
