Guest baumgrenze
I have a pair of AR-5 speakers. To help in dating them, the serial number on one is 30533.The woofers in both boxes need new suspensions. I just finished learning how to do this on a pair of AR-18's. The task does not seem daunting.Unfortunately, one of the tweeters is blown. Was the entire production run of AR-5's made with one style of tweeter, or do I need to be very specific if I attempt to swap in a new one?I don't want to redo the suspensions unless I know I can replace the tweeter. Thanks for any insights.baumgrenze

Guest OldRelayer
I had a set of these in the 70's, they are the best speaker I ever owned. I am actually thinking of getting another set. Like you the Surrounds need to be done, it doesn't seem like a hard thing to do, where do you get the materials?Be really careful when replacing the tweeter, I did it, don't remember how I found it or what it was, but sounded perfectly horrible. I wouldn't use anything but a 100% replacement part.I am new here so I am not sure how this is going to work. But I have a picture of the speaker and maybe someone could make a comment on the surround, I am new to this surround stuff, although it doesn't seem difficult if you take your time. Here goes.http://www.classicspeakerpages.net/dc/user_files/854.jpgThanksBarry
