The MC7270 is one of my favorites from that period, along with the MC2205 and MC2255; it's not at all surprising that it spec'd as well as it did at the clinic. I've only seen PowerGuard activated once, when an RCA plug was mistakenly pulled with the system powered up. Talk about adrenaline-inducing...
