Hi, all....just picked up a pair of AR 2a speakers. One has no sound going to the mid or tweet. I've gotten the grill removed, but the gunk that AR used as a sealant is very good at preventing driver removal....any suggestions?

Thanks

Hi there AR fan

First I would make several attempts at turning each pot to see if that is all the problem is.

Using a small screwdriver or small pry bar go down into the very edge of the speaker wood contact. There is maybe 1/4" of speaker depth on the rims. You should be doing this at opposite sides at the same time. Gently rocking them as they rise to the surface. The drivers are very heavy and the sealant does hold them tight. If you only attempt one side at a time you may damage the drivers edge. Patience, not brute force, will be your best friend here. If you are interested, look up on this site elsewhere, I did a fair amount of research on the possible sealants that may be available for re-sealing the new or replacement drivers.

Good luck
