Found pair of Cizek MG-27 subwoofers

After years of waiting, the owner and I finally brought his pair of Cizek MG-27 subwoofers out of the cellar where they slept buried under dust and other material.
The conditions despite the years of neglect still seem good: the cabinets are intact, no dent on the veneer and no lifting of the same, there is only a few stains due to humidity and a lot of dust deposited, the grilles, (I think not original?) these are in excellent condition.
All four woofers need refoaming and seem to have spiders in good shape (no spider sinking).
In the cellar there are still a couple of Cizek Model3s to be recovered and they were part of the kit sold together with the subwoofers and we will soon be pulling them out of the antrum in which they are.
I had been waiting for this moment for years, at the time I proposed to my friend to buy him the speakers, I hope soon to realize this purchase.
Below the photos of the "find"

Hi. I think grilles are not the original ones. The originals were made of brown foam only (no frame). Foam was shaped (internally) with the footprint of the speakers. I paired them with a couple of DQ-10 by Dahlquist, xover set at 100 Hz. See pic. I love them. Hope you saved the MGs. Cheers. Alberto

Exactly two years later ...
finally I remove the 4 woofers from the 2 MG-27 sub, thank goodness that the cabinets held the woofers vertical, so even if they have not been used for over 10 years at least the spiders are fine!
The woofers left the cabinets dirty and in need of care (the furniture will be restored later). The photos show the very bad aesthetic shape of the cones and baskets.
From today the woofers are waiting for cleaning and refoaming in my house, stored in an optimal way, I thought I would start work in the next few weeks, but I could not resist ... I started with the first woofer, and in the following photos you can appreciate the result.
As foam I chose the Boston fillet type which seems quite adequate in all sizes, including the high excursion of these woofers.

I also insert the photo with the measure in mm. of the roll foam diameter: 17.5 mm.

Finally the woofers have returned home with new foam (in this case I tried the "Boston fillet" foam), at the moment an MG-27 sub is ready, tonight still half an hour of work, I have to redo only the gaskets of sealed between baffle and frame, the twin will also be finished ... the cabinets still need to be cleaned better, subsequent oil finishing and finally the pair of Cizek MG-27 subs will be operational, temporarily flanked by a pair of Acoustic Research "satellites" AR38s.

Both Cizek MG-27 subs are finished !!
The four woofers are on the cabinets with new seals, the cabinets rewashed and cleaned, the grids washed, the subs are now connected to a Technics SU-V8 amp and have been playing for four hours continuously !!
The 27Hz claimed by Roy Cizek all feel ... MG-27 sub is simply definitive.

Ciao Giorgio, fantastic work.  After I got my Model One's I learned more about Cizek speakers and I was curious about also getting a pair of Model 3's and one sub.  But I don't see the subs for sale anywhere near me.  Please show us more pictures when your stereo setup is completed and also how they sound.  How does this compare with just a pair of Model One's?

Hi, the Cizeks are not mine, I tried in vain to buy them by making an adequate offer, but nothing to do, my friend had bought them several years ago and is willing to keep them.
Now they work together with a pair of AR38 on top of the AR91 and the added bass feels very good, about 20Hz more added to the already excellent bass of the Acoustic Research.
A comparison with the Model1 is impossible to do, yours are fullrange speakers and the MG-27s are subwoofers, the coupling of the time put together with the MG-27 the Model-3s that have to be taken out of the cellar and tested together to the subwoofers, and this will happen in a few days, I had already done the refoaming of the 8" woofers of the Model-3, but if I remember correctly there was a tweeter that crackled, we will see in a few days if they are easily adjusted.

A friend told me the Model 3's with the subs sounds better overall than the One's or 2's alone.  I may be able to get model 3's, but I won't do that unless I have a pair of Cizek subs as well, which I doubt as they are super rare.  But it would be a fun project one day.

For various reasons, a large part of the Cizek production of the time went overseas to Italy, perhaps about half of it!
Certainly in my city, Trieste, there are three pairs of SW MG-27 ... other pairs I had identified in Italy and the other year I did not buy a perfect Model-3 and Mg-27 triptych sold for $ 1000 in Sicily ... I've given up by now, helping my friend get these newly finished MG-27s and the matching pair of Model-3s to be finished working perfectly.
Unfortunately I have almost exhausted the possibility of adding photos attached to the topics: I have about 700 bytes left, about 5 last photos!
I have illustrated everything I could to give as much documentation and useful information as possible, I hope to get a bonus to add more photos in the future!
