Gareth
Hi all, i picked these up recently and have been told that they are AR Classic Model 6s, but they seem deeper and wider at 13” deep and 10” wide, plus the cable connection is lower. Any thoughts where this hybrid came from ?!
Gareth
Edit: the connectors are HIGHER than normal, not lower.
AR55
They are probably CL-8's. The CL-8's measure 10"x13"x22". They have a 1" dome tweeter and an 8" woofer.
ra.ra
Looks like AR55 probably nailed it.
ra.ra
Just to amend previous post: Classic 6 has six-inch woofer with four screws; Classic 8 has eight-inch woofer with six screws.
Stimpy
Is there a full list somewhere of this Classic series of speakers? They seem to be receiving renewed interest, so I'm just curious as to how many models existed?
lARrybody
Found this information on the Classic and Limited series speakers which were produced between 1992-1994. http://www.aphenos.net/electronics/speakers/klh/all_ar.htm My question is what were the cabinet covered with. Vinyl or Wood?

I use that document as a reference, too - - - it was assembled by a CSP member (he made a similar doc for KLH models). The models (10, 18, 26, 30) from the 1992 dates are shown in literature in the Library, but none of the models (12, 5, 6, 8) from the 1993 dates are represented with a brochure, catalog or tear sheet. Vinyl or Wood? Thanks all, this is very helpful! I like these speakers a lot, so happy to know what they are and when they came out. I couldn’t find anything from the usual sources but I’m now starting to piece together that these were marketed badly and probably appeared very retro in 1993, so AR dropped them quickly and then moved out west.
