Guest Yaron Miro
Hello My name is YaronI own a pair of AR-2ax and a second pair of AR-3a speakers.I saw an ad about a Pionner CS 99a vintage speakers for sell I'm unfimilar with that speaker model so I checked it out on net and it look's like a good speaker, But you know sometimes numbers and sizes dosen mean that the speaker is that good.I'm plannig on visiting the seller and listening to them this weekend, But before I do that I would like to get the opinion from people that know both of the models and can provide some sort of preference between them and to know if the Pioneer is a better speaker then the AR-2ax or even the AR-3a ?the reason I'm asking for help is beacouse I'm intrested in upgrading my stereo system an not buying vintage speakers for collection. The second reason is that the guy lives far from my house.I know that in order to deside I have to hear the pioneer and then compare them with the AR models that I have at home, But if the diffrences between them is enormuse in faviure of the AR's then I will save my self the time.I currently runnig my system with the "Yamaha AV RXV-1000" reciver and conected in pre out is a "QED A204 CD stereo amplifier"is this enough power to handle the pionner in case I will acquire it Thank's a lot for anyone who will helpP.S: sorry for the bad english

I find them to be a bit colored in their soung reproduction when compared to the AR3a's. Myself, I would stick with your winners that you already have! As to the RXV-1000, I am not sure that it is rated for 4 ohm loads but at 100 watts per, It should do the job with the 3a's. They present a nasty load to the amp. ninohernes
The AR-2ax is 8 ohms, they will work great with the Yamaha amp. 100 watts will power them nicely too. The AR-2ax is a wonderfull sounding speaker system, with very natural sound reproduction.
