Giorgio AR
This AR3 dome midrange was found when I removed the woofers of my AR2a pair of 3/62. It was mixed in the internal padding of a loudspeaker, probably the waste of an Acoustic Research worker. In the photos, you can glimpse a piece of the aluminum terminal, not visible, but there is also the other pole, with the cable flush with the output of the dome. The coil is not interrupted and measures approximately 3.6 ohms. Acoustic Research always amazes me !!
nefertem
Cool probably a assembly worker either did that early in the morning or trying to hide a screw up and didn't want there supervisor to find out
Giorgio AR
For me it is an unconscious gift of the assembly worker of that time, the dome is a beautiful object ... now it is on display in my showcase of the relics Acoustic Research

sarals
It looks an awful lot like the diaphragm in a horn driver. I've heard the speculation on that, yes.
GD70
Looks like the tweeter dome for the 2a & 3. The foam globs are present, so to me, it was mounted at some point. Odd it ended up inside your cabinet.
Giorgio AR
I measured the outside diameter of the coil and is 52 mm. about. I confirm that the appearance and the foam globs are similar to the 1 3/8 tweeter, also note the fiberglass cylinder contained inside the dome which is double colour: yellow and orange (almost pink).
