Capacitors for sale

I have an excess of caps and want to reduce my stash. Caps marked 'used' have less than 10 hours of use but are in good condition. The 2uF mylar by TRW and the Pilkor only have 1/2" leads.

Shipping to Lower 48 States via cheapest method - price to be determined. PayPal is preferred.

All caps measured at 1kHz on an Agilent U1733C

TSJ,

You need one 4uF cap per speaker. Any of the ones David listed (Erse PEx or Dayton PMPC) would be good, if he still has them. If not, you can get caps from Madisound or PartsExpress. Get two 4uF film caps. Voltage does not matter (they will all be over 50v). You could also use 3.9uF caps. I like the Carli caps sold by Madisound: https://www.madisoundspeakerstore.com/carli-capacitors/carli-mylar-3.9-mfd/

Solens are also good but cost more https://www.madisoundspeakerstore.com/solen-capacitors/solen-4-mfd-fast-cap-400v/

Here are the Daytons https://www.parts-express.com/dayton-audio-pmpc-40-40uf-250v-precision-audio-capacitor--027-226

Myself, I'd go with the Daytons but either the Dayton or the Erse caps will work fine.

Do you happen to have the resistors for these models?

Resistors do not normally go bad and therefor would not need to be replaced. OTOH, many KLH speakers used 5w resistors and for about a buck apiece replacing them is cheap insurance. Looks like that's what you did with your 23s.

The 17 crossover has (each speaker):

  • Two 2uF caps
  • One 8uF cap
  • Two 3 Ohm resistors
  • One 7.5 Ohm resistor

I don't have any resistors for sale.

So you need:

(2) 4uF for one speaker

and

(2) 8uF + (4) 2uF for the other speaker

Is that correct?

Sorry, but I'm new to all this and relying on you for the specs.

I trust you to ship the Dayton caps for one pair of model-23's and one pair of Model-17's.

If you send a PayPal invoice to tommyjay805@yahoo.com, I'll take it from there. If not I understand.

Thanks!

@TSJ

I have (2) 4uF Dayton for the 23

I do NOT have 8uF for the 17. But I could use the Erse mylar 4uF and parallel/solder two together for you x 2. This would match the 2uF mylar caps. I will also solder on longer leads to the 2uF free of charge. Let me know if this is OK as I'm going to the Post Office tomorrow to have boxes weighed to get a shipping cost. I'll need your zip code

thanks

First thanks for sharing this. I'm a little bit of a caveman when it comes to buying stuff online, is Paypal safe? Like do they provide an invoice and everything. Even on eBay I've used cheques and manual receipts but I'm ready to step out of my comfort zone - Almost 37 here so please be kind :) - Thx!.

I've used PayPal for 15 years for both domestic and international purchases and sales. 100% safe in my experience.

What does "almost 37" mean? If that's your age you're a mere child compared to me (and others here) but I thought the interweb was second nature for your generation ;)

I'm way older than 37 and there was no such thing as a PC when I was in college. I use PayPal for all eBay purchases and many other purchases like Parts Express. Never had a problem. I do NOT link my bank to my credit card and you don't have to but they would like you to. My purchases go direct to my credit card company and any money I make on sales gets used first when buying. An invoice can be created by the seller and sent to the buyer or you can just put money in the buyers acct with a message as to what its for. A tracking number needs to be put in by the seller for the package.
