    Model 5 coil failure

Was able to open the speaker up and found the coil has come unglued from the former. Any experienced KLH guys know if I can get a replacement coil or does someone (for some reason) have measurements?
  2. Does anyone happen to have the AR logo as below in an SVG file? Edit: a smoothed out SVG file
  3. Just the natural (dirty) color of the plastic.
  4. Yes, it's a VentureLine Egg chair from around 1971 or so made in Akron Ohio and its currently in my garage. It popped up for sale on a local site and I couldn't resist. I'll have to be a summer project due to the size of it and the fact that garage is not heated. Need some advice or opinions on how to treat the surface. It appears to be a blow molded plastic, not very hard but not very flexible either. Kinda reminds me of the old Christmas decorations (like the plastic candles that were 4 feet tall) only significantly thicker material. I want to put a rattle can paint job on it to make it white again but there are some scratches in the surfaces. Will it sand ok? Will the paint adhere ok? The first picture is mine, the second it what I want mine to be. Appreciate any advice as well as advice on how to convince my wife that it's really cool!
  5. Complete! Thanks for all the forum help. Good stuff and these were very rewarding to get to completion.
  6. Just completed my restore of some AR5's as well. Been a long time coming on these. When I bought them ($20 by the way) i pulled off the front screens and the woofer cones came falling out! After A LOT of work, these beauties are singing again! I hope you enjoy yours as much as I am enjoying mine. Tweeters rebuilt Pots restored New caps New screen cloth New badges And a lot of patience and elbow grease!
  7. Complete! Thanks Chris if you involved in this thread. Now the wait for my caps!
  8. The originals will be arriving at Chris's place very soon. After corresponding with Chris, he said the originals are good candidates for a rebuild. Feel much better about this route verses the HiVi just to keep some of the originality. Attached photo of how they looked as I sent them out. Just for the record, these are marked as Sept 1971.
  9. I've reached out to Chris but havent heard back yet. I'll likely go with the mod for now and after the holidays have the originals rebuilt. Still waiting on my 74 uf caps to show up (backordered) Thanks for the quick responses. You are correct about all the info being overwhelming but I'm glad it's all HERE!
  10. So, reviving this post a bit (apologies) but I dont think the question of the HiVi modification working for the AR5 tweeter has been answered. I'm understanding that the AR5 tweeter is an 8 ohm verses a 4 ohm for AR3. I too am restoring a set of AR5's where one tweeter is officially toast. I'm not against replacing both with the mod but I still dont know if using the standard mod that everyone discusses will work. If the tweeter replacement is a 6 ohm, does there need to be a different inductor and if so what would be the correct way to do this. Appreciate in advance any and all responses.
