  1. I have some of these small black tweeters rebuilt by Chris if anybody needs them.
  2. I'm using small Heils from Tempest Series, PS-8. Absolutely terrific.
  3. Phenolic dome tweeters, cloth surround woofers, mid-ranges, crossovers. Also have more modern woofers that need foam.
  4. There is a pair of these available locally for 50. Are they worth it?
  5. I have been out of the loop for a while but I'm back and am letting you all know that I have cloth surround woofers for 2ax, red tweeters, mid-ranges and crossovers, etc. Basically everything including cabinets which are very rough. No badges, however. Also, no potentiometer knobs. Not sure what these items are worth. I was going to work on getting together another pair but I am just not into it lately. I would prefer discussing any terms by phone.
  6. What are these worth in US dollars please?
  7. See Wikipedia for pschoacoustics. Ever since day one audio has been all about the tweeters for me and it was very gratifying to read this the first time I found it.
  8. I have some AR 2ax, two extra red tweeters and mid-ranges and two cloth woofers that need a home. Please contact me for photos and info. I also have several pairs of KLH 6 Sixes in various condition. Zip code 73072, Norman, Oklahoma.
  9. I need to get in contact with some of these people that are experts in dealing with cloth surrounds on the 2ax. I bought the pair from the auction site and they are deformed. I'm wondering what I can do to get them back into the proper shape or profile.
  10. Sir, I was hoping someone with a bit more knowledge about this would chime in. I would love all of you with anything to add to keep this going. Thanks, Jim
  11. Jeepers, I just realized you asked me how they sound. I'm a little bit scared to start messing around cuz I don't know what the hell I'm doing. I have listened to the three quarter inch domes in a pair from the physics professor, I am now using the modern ones an AV receiver. I haven't really given them a fair shot and certainly not done a side by side AB. The person that rebuilt my Black dome tweeters appears to be very talented, dependable and everyone says he does super high quality work. I know they are appreciating and it was a great investment and thank you everyone for guiding me on this especially that guy, he knows who he is LOL.
  12. Hi-Vi, Air-Core inductor with a wood block, etc. Excellent condition, what might these be worth? Admin.? Hope this does not violate. Please advise if so. Thank you.

  14. Ok, that's exactly what I was wondering about. I don't know what years the model L was produced, I finally found out what model these are. What is so special about that particular driver besides it's appearance?
  15. What can anyone say is the one distinguishing trait that these loudspeakers have, or what is their strong suit and their weak? I have a chance to get some. I don't know which model number.
  16. Yes what about the crisis however of not having the sealer available? You people have saved me hundreds and hundreds of dollars because before I ever heard about the group I was very close to using PVA and or some of the other materials the unaware have suggested. I've accumulated three bottles of the group but one day it will be gone as I continue to use it on several pairs of sixes that I have as well as a realistic Radio shack Optimus 7 end table pair as well as the 32s and 17s I have. By the way, I can still hardly wait to install into various pairs of 2ax my two pairs of reworked tweeters from Chris! One pair rebuilt by physics professor here, one pair that appear to be roid out, yes, you, Roy, and a couple of boxes that I bought some cloths surround woofers for and have been saving a pair of the tweets to use there. It may have to be a birthday present for the last day of June. I better get busy with all this junk because I don't want it to be one day too late and from up there here someone say oh that old junk? You give me 50 and you can have it all. By the way guys, over the years you probably have no idea about the level to which you have changed and improved my existence. I owe you all beyond what I can express. I guess some people might think that it's a little bit sappy to say this, melodramatic or whatever but as a hopeful romantic I will say that what I've gone through is what all this s*** is about. You've paid it forward. Oh, speaker placement? I know, I know...those poor boy 3as are temporary sound reinforcement for some L1290s I recently acquired and am evaluating.
  17. What say you? Listed for a dollar 800 mi away from me. The speakers are in pretty darn good condition. One small corner ding.

    New Veneer?

Hey there Jkent, Can you send me to a place to learn how to use Howard's restore finish on some junked up cabinets? Also, what is the proper way to reform corner bashes? I've read that some guys make a dam out of tape and then fill it with some material. What is the best material that will take stain and is relatively easy to smooth off and restore the sharp corners? I have some pretty simple stuff as in what's in the photo but I also have a couple of cabinets that have the entire corner flattened from being dropped. Second photo is of particle board cabinet that's handy, shown for example of flattened corner and I assume that the same technique will work for a veneered cabinet. I guess that if the two panels have separated to some degree I will have to use yellow aliphatic resin carpenters glue and bar clamps to clamp a strip of wood stock along the length of the joint? Any recommendations from anyone surely welcome. First time refinisher here.
  19. What can anyone tell me about these? I have a chance to get them for $80, whatever they worth more or less?
  20. A couple of pairs have been rebuilt by a physics professor here and the one with the aftermarket tweeter I have tried but was not impressed. I'm still trying to find out if it is faithful to Roy C's design. I have one pair like that and one pair with the red and one pair with that has no tweeters where I will use the black. A gift from the professor, extremely rough cabinets and mismatched foam woofer types that need foam surrounds. I recently bought a pair of first iteration cloth woofers that I have not yet tested but intend to use those there. Obviously they are going to need recapping and cleaning of the pots but most likely replacement with L-pads. I learned on this thread just now that there needs to be an element added to the crossover in order to make that change. Happy to say I have probably about five jars of the goop that I've been using on the KLH sixes and an old pair of Magnavox horn driven and some old realistic model sevens. I can't thank all of you enough because over the last two years or so since I have barely only heard of acoustic research... The photo shows a rebuilt 8080 and a pretty run of the mill disc deck with a Pickering xv15. I have a functional XA here and an xsv3000 that needs to be re-tipped. One of these days... I'll probably use the consecutive serial number sixes that have been grouped with my 2238 Marantz and an ax900 Yamaha. I've got some ADS L1290s running in the garage from a pretty decent Onkyo HT unit. Thanks to you guys I have come one hell of a long ways in the last 10 to 20 years since my old Panasonic 15 watter driving some Thrusters!
  21. I was delighted to find that these are repairable even to the extent that Chris can 3D print missing parts of the flanges. I have a pair with the older red domes, a pair with the Hi-Vi and two pair of the three quarter inch black domes.
