  1. Yeah indeed those will be rare birds. I think people that aren't aware of the Hivi Mod probably just throw away the speakers with the broken tweeters or randomly screw in a tweeter they found at the shop.
  2. Got the last one done aswell. Had a few hick ups along the way, but they are working and sounding amazing... You guys really were right that with my resistors the sound was way off. Now with the lpads in there they sound like totally different speakers. Thanks everyone for contributing to my journey.
  3. Yes Pierre, indeed. Good thing i managed to score another set of original AR5 mids.
  4. @lance G Thx Lance! It all worked out fine, this speaker sounds superb now! Only thing left is to replicate the process on the other speaker and we are back in business.
  5. Plus: Managed to score a Acoustic Research A-07 amplifier. After an overhaul i think these two will mate quite well. In my small friendgroup everyone knows that i love AR, and everything they encounter regarding AR they will send my way. Lovely isn't it? Friends that make you buy more audio gear.
  6. Thx. @Aadams I wasn't sure. Have everything connected now. About to close this one up for a test run.
  7. Back at it again. Wired up the mid lpad as per restoration guide, but i am running against a wall here. I don't know where to connect the wires coming from the coils... ? Maybe the pictures provide some clarity for you guys.
  8. Thx Aadams. I will be leaving the third post out of the equation. The standard wiring in the restoration guide doesnt mention any difference in wiring regarding the lpads. I will be preparing the mid lpad shortly. It's dinner time here in NLD and my daughter is screaming for pancakes. So i guess duty calls. Brb

  10. The middle post? As in the middle cable terminal? I don't really need that i think...
  11. As requested, wide angle picture. Thanks for your support @Aadams
  12. Today, i finally managed to pick up the project. I've been very busy lately with no time to tinker around. So.. Progress. I prepared the L-pad for the tweeter in one speaker. It's a bit messy, but i know exactly what is what. Just wanted to check with one of the guru's here, is the way that i wired up the lpad correct?
Groetjes, Ben
  14. Thanks Lance. I will post some pictures along the line. Maybe someone can use my mistakes so they don't make em.
  15. I hope too. But it will sure be better then before. The previous owner put some kind of construction isolation material in there randomly. So by weighing the amount of material that goes in there, copying that for the second speaker at least i have some continuity. The parts have been delivered, i started preparing by removing the banana terminals and my resistors. Already placed the new T-nuts in the cabinet and put some new gasketing tape on the units. Awaiting the arrival of the new wire so i can start the assembly of the L-pads. Cheers, Ben
