  1. I have an error in my previous comment. I ADDED (not removed) some damping material in the main cabs (lined the boxes with open cell foam and doubled the foam behind the woofer to cancel the back wave). I also pulled the mid's and lined its enclosure with open cell foam. This along with some new poly film clarity caps and they sound VERY Very NICE. I was shocked to so see how little damping material was in the cabinet leaving a lot of open air and bare exposed cabinet walls. As an amateur speaker builder for 40 years I am guessing that was a production cost cutting action and the speakers original design had much more damping. You DO need an amp with good power to get the best from these. Minimum of 50-60 watts, but 80-100 would be ideal.
  2. Great speaker period. Add some high end capacitors (Clarity, Mundorf, etc), a bit of bracing and remove a few ounces of cab damping material and they sound wonderful. Have them set up next to my Wilson Sabrina's and will never part with them. Who ever says they have no bass has no idea of what good speakers should sound like and probably own Cerwin Vega's or some other sort of unsophisticated bangers.
