  1. Thanks Glenn!! All original speakers, I’m told by a trusted seller and friend. New caps and pots were put in. I have the original speakers boxes, too. I also was told that the finish was factory lacquered, rather than the factory oiled walnut one more commonly sees. I think I also have an AR3 brochure. Feeling very fortunate. They sound so smooth, and the bass is so nicely extended. I am currently using a CJ PV12A preamp ... but soon replacing it with a Mac MX110z. My amps are Dynaco MKIIIs. I’m nearing the end of a two year journey.
  2. Thanks Roy. My speakers have been recapped and restored. The sound is clear and brilliant and varies much when adjusting the pots. They are, however, all original parts.
  3. Of course. Just looking for some insight and others experiences. Like, would having them wide open diminish the bass? Or does keeping the mids at half make the bass more pronounced?
  4. Do you fine folks suggest full open? Or mids, halfway; Hi 3/4? Would it cause wear on the speakers at full on? I don’t listen to my music at high volumes. I’m curious to know what others do. Thanks
  5. Ok, safe to assume not many are available outside Vintage AR and Ebay ... the waiting ... is the hardest part. In the meantime, I will just listen and enjoy and feel fortunate to have such an iconic speaker. The best I’ve ever heard. As a noob, I wasn’t sure what to expect. Wow.
  6. I just got a pair of AR3s, totally restored, factory varnished walnut finish, with original boxes and paperwork. All I’m missing is one ‘3.’ How often do these surface? Any tips on how to acquire? Not a huge deal, but would love to complete the pair. Thanks
