The coating on the fabric dome tweeters is cracked and gone. Need replacements. (I'm not really interested in "re-coating" the domes.) Any replacement tweeter recommendations? Thanks much, Dan

The C's are awesome speakers. Cave or no cave.

I just pulled these out of some C’s I bought. The magnet snaps into the diaphragm assembly. I did this for ferrofluid maintenance. These are Vifa, right? Not a hight dollar tweeter. Same as K’s, and the rear on EIII’s? Maybe still in production? These speakers are so good, I’d consider the Snell distributor’s replacement pair (Atomic?)

I like plastic caps, polypropylene. Not a huge fan of paper in oil caps. I expect these crossovers are simple 2nd order. I used Sonic caps but my link no longer works. Good luck

My motive has always been to give these to my sister. She's been running Snell J's for years. But her house needs a bigger speaker. After reforming and new ferrofluid, these speakers just sound amazing. She is running a Conrad Johnson tube phone stage / preamp and BK amp.

Bought them on eBay. Damn these are big. Needed woofer refoams. . One done and MY GOD IT SOUNDS GOOD! Second one in progress. Have ferrofluid for tweeters. Don’t think I’ll re-cap for now. Yes the others are SNELL TYPE 1’s!

Speaker Exchange in Tampa ( http://reconingspeakers.com ) said the tweeters look like Peerless or Polydax. I'll send them both down and report back on results.

I have a pair of these excellent speakers. After years of enjoyment, the right tweeter gave up.Wire from the voice coil to the negative post is broken, but I also cannot get continuity across the voice coil. Damn! There are no markings to identify this tweeter (just like the 10" woofer). The front plate is 90 x 110mm and the voice coil is about 1.25"Any recommendations on a repair service? Thanks,Dan

Outboard crossovers with new capacitors. New foam covers from Parts Express. Exposing shitty recordings like nothing else.

I've posted results of rebuilding these xovers in the Snell.no and the diyaudio forums... Dan

I bought some Type 1's and replaced my Type E/III's. That was a big upgrade. Recently, the left fuseholder broke on the left Type 1. So I put the E/III's back in. Well, oh my, did that remind me that the Type 1's were a big upgrade. I expect the Type A's will be bigger still!!!

I've taken my Snell Type 1's apart due to the fuse holder in one breaking. Great reason to rebuild the crossovers! I'll put the crossovers in remote boxes so they will not be in the speaker cabinet. From initial pictures, I knew they were a bit complex, but I had no idea until I took the loudspeaker apart. My Type 1's have bi-wired terminals. I have traced out the crossovers (please note these are Type 1 even though I wrote Type A on the scans!!!). On the woofer, I haven't figured out the switch wired from the inductors. It is labeled "Midrange Level" and has 3 positions with the cen

Yes, the bypass caps are ceramic disks. I haven't dismounted the components yet and cannot see a code on the caps. They do look to be low values. Dan
