HarryM
I opened up my AR-8 "rock" speaker to see what caps and resistors I needed to order and was surprized to find 2 3 ohm 10% resistors and 1 large sprague compulytic cap 10uf-50vnp,10% cap.I searched for a xover schematic but couldn't find one.Is this original. I was also wondering, since the AR-8 is considered to be not very good sounding, has anybody done any mods on these. Thanks,Harry.
HarryM
Just thought I'd update this.I didn't change anything on the xovers.Carlspeak posted about testing the bigger sprague compulytic caps and said that mine should be good. After fixing one woofer and borrowing a tweeter from my AR-25's and making sure the boxes were sealed well i hooked them up to the Marantz.I would say Carlspeak is right.I don't hear anything that tells me something isn't right. They work great at high volumes and at low to mid volumes they sound really good with my AR-28s's. mraudio
Its a good idea to use only plastic film capacitors for xovers. They´re very stabile and longlife too. Just one plastic film capacitor for AR7 and that honky midrange effect almost gone ! Try it, and never came back. Honest.
