  1. New to me AR-4x. Do they look a little different? They belonged to Jim Fosgate, he worked on them himself years ago. Not sure the extent of the changes--just hooked them up for a first listen. They sound great.
  2. I have a cosmetically nice, "as-found" pair of AR4x loudspeakers I am trying to rehab for my son & daughter-in-law's new house. I discovered that one of the pair has been hacked -- its tweeter replaced with some generic coax car speaker (?!). It actually sounds pretty good, but has much more treble output than the original tweeter. The two AR4x tweeters need to be "normalized". I am looking for originals, but I am also keen on the notion of a "cost-effective" (read: inexpensive, at least reasonably!), drop-in replacement tweeter than will meet the AR4x requirements (XO frequency and sensitivity) well enough to yield an audibly pleasant result. Note that I am aiming low; I am not up for an XO redesign or other extensive modifications. Googling hasn't turned up any obvious choices that are still available, so any suggestions are greatly appreciated & gratefully received! Thanks!
  3. Just restored. 1968 and 1969 date stamps inside. These were used as studio monitors in a radio station until the late 1990s then stored until now . They have slightly different woofers but I believe both are OEM, just different revs. Tweeter pot replaced with fixed resistors to simulate normal to slight increase setting. New poly/metal caps, woofer surrounds re-doped, polyester fill. Cabinets have 4 fresh coats of oil, moderate scratches and discoloration. Original labels and inspection tags on backs. Can send more pics , having trouble uploading. Reduced to $175. Reasonable offers will be considered.
